Dr. Hernandez began his pre-medical training at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, where he graduated in 1995 with a Baccalaureate of Science degree majoring in chemical biology. In 1999, he obtained his Doctorate in Medicine (M.D) from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In 2002, Dr. Hernandez completed his medical residency training at UMDNJ –University Hospital in Newark, NJ. He remained on staff in 2003 as a chief medical resident of ambulatory medicine at the Veterans Affairs facility located in East Orange, NJ. He received his internal medicine board certification in 2002 and was re-certified in 2012.
Dr. Hernandez joined Bergen Internal Medicine in 2003 with Drs. Salvatore M. Laraia and Richard J. Gallo. Since 2003, he has worked at Holy Name Medical Center as an attending physician. Currently, he has medical privileges at the following Bergen County facilities: The Care One in Teaneck, The Care One at Cresskill, and The Buckingham Care and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood.
He performs home visits with patients unable to present to the office. He is certified to perform Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) exams for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Along with his passion for medicine, he also possesses a gentle bedside manner. His interest in his patients’ general well-being goes beyond the scope of their medical needs and is always available to them.
